A Photography Enthusiast

I like to think of myself as a student with wide interests. I enjoy following baseball, playing music and reading. Among the subjects that interest me the most are histories of the United States, western civilization, the Catholic Church, and Japan, biographies and memoirs of politicians and artists, travel writings and reflections on contemplative spiritual practices.

I also like to think that, along with everyone else who has ever walked this great Earth, I participate in the creative spirit of God - especially through the arts.

I am primarily a street photographer, a definition of which is one who attempts to set aside expectations and conceptions to make photographs of the world as it is. And of course this is also a way of describing mindfulness, being present to the world as it is. Not so long ago I came across the idea of photography as contemplation. That notion brings my photography in union with my contemplative practice. What an awe-inspiring coincidence!
